CooperVision Tackles Demanding Prescriptions With Biofinity XR Launch
At the start of this week, CooperVision extended its Biofinity range of silicone hydrogel contact lenses with the launch of Biofinity XR. With this new addition to its monthly lens portfolio, CooperVision hopes to provide a solution for patients with highly demanding prescriptions.
As the contact lens manufacturer noted in its press release, many people with significant hyperopia and myopia struggle to find optimal vision correction solutions. The thick lenses required for glasses can lead to distortion, and some patients may resent this option on aesthetic grounds. In the case of contact lenses, older materials result in limited breathability, and those incorporating the latest technologies cover only a small range of prescriptions.
According to CooperVision, Biofinity XR is the only extended range monthly contact lens to make use of Aquaform technology. It ensures a high level of breathability, meaning that more oxygen is allowed to reach the eye. As a result, irritation is brought to a minimum, and the eyes are kept clearer and whiter. The technology also makes it possible to achieve smoothness and comfort by ensuring natural and uniform wetness.
Dr. Juan Carlos Aragon, CooperVision senior VP of Global Professional & Clinical Affairs, said that Biofinity XR provided eye care professionals with an excellent reason to promote monthly soft contact lenses to patients with severe vision impairment. Biofinity XR would be a perfect choice regardless of whether it replaces another brand, or encourages glass wearers to try out contact lenses for the first time. The comfort and vision clarity associated with the Biofinity brand are fully present in the Biofinity XR lenses, Aragon added.
